What you learn


It is an intensive and in-depth practical course, particularly suitable for those wishing to change their career or for those passionate about working in a creative environment.

No previous hairdressing experience is necessary.

This course includes all the required elements to work effectively as a junior hairdresser once completed and learners could work in a variety of different sectors, which might include:

  • Commercial salons

  • Independent/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings

  • Cruise liners

  • Television, film, theatre and media


Additionally students can choose to develop their knowledge and skills further by undertaking a level 3 qualification.

Classes are taught through practical demonstrations, academy and salon's practice, distance learning, digital platform, and one-to-one attention on each student’s work.

Students work on each other, mannequins, and models with a very practical hands-on approach from day one.

The focus is: to develop students’ practical skills and work responsibility.

This course is taught and assessed by the academy’s principal educator Alex Volpe with more than 30 years’ experience as Hairdresser in salons work, TV, media, and films.

 The classes will be from 10 am to 14:30 pm  Monday to Thursday for over 8 months (Approximately)

and 18:00 to 21:00 Tuesday and Thursday for about 10 months.


Work experience will be essential for professional development and students will be able to practice in the Academy’s salon on a flexible basis throughout the duration of the course.


The course is organised in Units and some can be taken individually.

  • Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp

  • The art of “Clients consultation”

  •  Cut ladies and men’s hair

  • Style and dressing hair

  • Colour and lighten hair

  • Salon work ethic

  • Work with the team

  • Iconic Hairstyles

  • History of Hairdressing

  • Contemporary Hairstyles


Whenever students will fail to pass individual units extending the length of the overall studies because of certificated  illness or in need to elaborate the units further (unless due to student negligence such as willingly not attending the classes), the academy will support the student for the completion of the course.


At the end of the course after passing all required units, Diplomas by the iTEC/VTCT and London Academy hair & makeup will be issued.



The light and airy classrooms of London Academy are located within the enchanting Spinola Bay in St. Julians.

In our spacious academy, you will have your own personal workstation – including professional lighting and equipment.




The cost of the class is 5450 euros.

An initial payment of 1450 euros at enrolment and a balance of 4000 euros 1 week before the starting date.

Or with the option of an initial payment of 1450 at enrolment and 10 installments of 400 euros each.

The fee includes essential tools.
