WHAT YOU LEARN

​

It is an intensive and in-depth practical course, particularly suitable for those wishing to change their career or for those passionate about using make-up in a creative environment.

 This qualification takes you from the basics to advanced skills.

​

​

  • Application of fashion (Photographic, cat walks) make-up - to include creating and adapting a design plan, using products, tools and techniques to meet the design plan, black and white and colour and working to a budget

  • Application of media (working in TV and Films) make-up - to include characters, ageing, and casualty effects

  • Application of theatre make-up - to include lighting, principle of colour, historical period  make- up, theatrical and character make-up

  • Understand the key differences between working in Film, TV, Theatre, and Fashion

  • Know how to research a subject and use relevant reference material to fulfil a brief

  •  

    Acquire the professional skills and contacts to help you start your career in the media industry

HOW YOU LEARN & FEES


Students work through a comprehensive syllabus addressing the key make-up techniques required by professional artists working in these industries inspired and guided by true professionals.

Classes are taught through practical demonstrations, distance learning, digital platform, and one-to-one attention on each student’s work. Students work on each other, mannequins, and models with a very practical and hands-on approach from day one.

The focus is on developing students’ practical skills.

The courses length:

From 8 to 10 months two days per week 9:30am to 12:30pm or 5pm to 8pm, Option 1 fees 

Or 24 to 26 months flexible one day per week, Option 2 fees (Approximately)

​

These courses are taught and assessed by the academy’s principal educator Alex Volpe with more than 30 years’ experience as a Hair and Makeup Designer in Films and TV  and visiting artists.

The course is organized in units and some can be taken individually:

  • Beauty Make-up

  • Fashion Make-up

  • Character Make-up

  • Special make-up Effects

  • History of Hair & make-up in fashion & media

  • Bald Cap Application

  • Hair Facial application and Laying on of loose hair

  • Airbrush make-up application

  • Business and department management

An Internationally recognised Diploma by the iTEC/VTCT  Level 3 (Level 4 in Malta & Europe) will be issued after the exams.
